It’s been a long and weird time for the past two years, with most of the world closed down in one way or another, and the contact we’ve had with our users and the Notch community has been limited to online activities.

Back in early January, as we saw things slowly improving, we started to plan a few activities for the first half of 2022 and barring any changes in the covid (or indeed the general situation these days), we’ll be present at the following events and locations in the next few months:

The Notch Community Stream

When: 8th of March, 6 PM GMT
Where: Live on YouTube, Twitch etc
Sign up: Follow us on YouTube to be notified when we go live!

The Notch Community stream returns! It’s been a long while since the last time we held one of these, so we’re happy to announce we’re back to go through the latest innovations in IMAG VFX, take community questions and to talk a little bit about what’s coming up from Notch.

Join our Product Specialists Ryan, Will and Armin as well as other members of the Notch user community to hang out, chat and generally have a Notchy time!

Image Beyond the Screen International Conference (IBSIC)

Conference stage with an audience and large screen.

When: 10th to 12th of March 2022
Where: Lille, France
Sign up: Registration, programme

The Video-Mapping Festival is hosted alongside the Image Beyond the Screen International Conference (IBSIC) in Lille, France. The conference invites international professionals and students from the field of light art, video mapping and immersive projections to hear from over forty speakers. The festival itself moves around France — 22 destinations to be exact — throughout the year, entertaining over 100,000 attendees with its monument video mapping.

Our Lead Trainer Armin Kazlauskas will be leading a working group on real-time projection mapping on Friday the 11th of March.

LUMINOUS by INTUS

When: 16th of March, 5 PM GMT
Where: Hybrid physical and virtual event, hosted from Mexico
Sign up: Registration

Hosted by renowned interactive design studio INTUS, LUMINOUS is an event where speakers from all over the world have joined up to discuss new media and interactive art — with leading experts in the most upcoming software in the industry.

Joining virtually, our Lead Trainer Armin will be running you through how Notch is used for fixed interactive installs, showcasing some of our own Arts Team’s work to demonstrate this.

AVA London 2022

When: 18th of March (conference during the day, concerts in the evening)
Where: Printworks, London
Sign up: Registration, programme

AVA is UKs Leading Electronic Music & Arts Conference. This will be its fifth time in London hosting over 40 artists and speakers.

Across a daytime programme at the venue, Printworks will feature keynote speeches from industry leaders, artist Q&As — as well as hands-on masterclasses, tech demos and workshops to make for an engaging, educational and insightful programme.

We will be present all through the conference in the tech demo area, showcasing Notch and inviting you to come say hello and get a tour of the software, as well as to catch up with members of our Product Specialists team.

In addition, our co-founder and lead developer, Matt Swoboda, will be on a panel entitled Creating a Visual Language for Music alongside audiovisual artist and Aphex Twin collaborator, Weirdcore and additional speakers. The panel is currently scheduled for 3 PM, but be sure to check the programme for any changes on the day!

And if you’re keen on staying after hours (our team definitely will be), then take a look at the live music lineup here.

FMX 2022

Where: Haus der Wirtschaft, Stuttgart, Germany
When: Tuesday 3rd to Thursday 5th of May 2022
Sign up: Registration, programme

The FMX conference has a long history of showcasing digital entertainment talent in Europe and is the premier event of its kind in Europe. It started as a student fair — given Filmakademie is a film school — but in the 26 years since has grown to host an international audience. You can expect conference talks, workshops, a marketplace on the latest tech and more.

We will host a workshop on May 4th at 14:30 (registration required!) as well as attend the conference itself for the duration of the on-location part of the event. So if you want to know what Notch is and how it can work for you, our Lead Trainer Armin Kazlauskas as well as our VP of Marketing, Bent Stamnes, will be there and happy to chat!

You can take a look at the program to see what other companies you can expect to see at FMX alongside Notch (which are many!)

And if you’re wondering if FMX is right for you.. this event is excellent for anyone interested in digital entertainment, whether you’ve been in the industry for 20 years or are a student just starting out. We’ve been attending in some way or another since 2005 (!) and it’s always a blast.

As the world slowly opens up, we hope to see you at one of our on-location events sometime in 2022. Be sure to subscribe to our newsletter to be notified about future events as well!
